WHY AN IPAD INITIATIVE?

There are many benefits for implementing the iPad Initiative into our school system. As 21st century teaching and learning continues to evolve, we have to ensure we are equipping youth with the skills and resources to thrive and succeed in the new digital age. Learning is now being transformed through technology and young learners are now constantly immersed and engaged digitally as early as toddler years. Youth now have a digital footprint in our world before they even start to walk and talk. Therefore it is the responsibility of our school system to ensure we are staying ahead of the wave and innovatively approaching how we educate.

Implementing the iPad initiative helps with bridging the digital divide and through research has shown many positive outcomes. These outcomes include increased student interest in learning and ownership of the learning process. Other results have yielded improvement in student and staff attendance, a decrease in lecture learning and more project based experiences for youth which increases student engagement.
